As summer winds down and I start to look forward to my favorite season, I am also feeling quite nostalgic for the past; especially since I’ve been focusing on taking and printing photos lately. I’ve recently launched a new project in my spare time: scanning all my old photos-a record for posterity, if you will.

When it comes to buying keepsakes and mementos on vacation, I’ve never been the type to buy things like t-shirts (never my size and I’m just not a graphic tee kind of girl) or snow globes. Give me a keychain (useful) or a magnet (usually take these to my locker at work). I came across the idea for my alternative Las Vegas souvenirs early on into our trip.
These photos were SO fun to take, gather, and print right in Vegas so that when vacation was over and I headed home, I had all my vacay memories bundled in my hot little hands.
It seems I’ve taken a bit of a summer hiatus from the ole blog. Not much going on this year apart from work and a fun trip to Las Vegas with my parents a couple of weeks ago. I have lots to share; first up: Las Vegas: Sweets & Eats.

That’s not completely accurate. There are so many words I have in my head fighting amongst themselves. One exciting aspect of my newfound succulent hobby is reading up and learning about all the new-to-me varieties that we’re collecting here at the cottage. Remembering the details, and planting/care instructions is the not-so-easy part. To better help me, I created a cork burned garden journal to better keep track of all the particulars. With just a few simple supplies I can keep notes on all my pretty babies; a baby book of sorts!
The initial set-up took just under an hour to complete and once established it was ready to be used all summer long. Here’s how I did it…
