CC 4×4 Canvas Challenge

My absolute most favorite craft supply the last two years or so? A piece of vintage sheet I thrifted. I’ve been using it on all sorts of projects and I knew that it had to be included. I cut the fabric into three layers of hearts and speckled them with more TA mist and attached them with spray adhesive and bits of mini-stapled twine. The ‘Choose Love’ sentiment was letter stamped on bits of canvas and mini-stapled.
I mentioned that I added a double layer of burlap; I meant for the canvas to be interactive, so to speak. Lift up the first layer of burlap and you’ll find a happy picture of Thom and me the night after he proposed at AWBU. It’s simply attached with adhesive and bordered with bits of pretty lace and gold sequins.
I finished it off with bits of misted canvas, vintage cloth, and printed tissue layered and attached just under the border.
I love how this turned out. I think it looks soft and romantic with pretty layers made of new and old supplies and with a sentiment that I try to live by.
Are you up for the challenge? What elements would you add to stretched canvas to describe yourself?
Canvas Corp Crew Challenge: Valentine

I’ve been keeping a little secret: remember that October intention of applying for a that “crafty thing?” Wellllll….I got in! I made it! I was even promoted to contributing designer!
I’m so excited to be blogging and designing for Canvas Corp this year. Canvas Corp is an Arkansas based company specializing in scrap booking products, home design basics, and features the brands Tattered Angels and 7 Gypsies. If you’ve been around here for any length of time you’ve probably seen me use Canvas Corp products in a lot of my crafts; it’s one of my most fave crafting supply companies.
From time to time I’ll be sharing crew challenges here on my blog and you can find me blogging at the Canvas Corp blog-The Creative Studio. In fact, my first post, Valentine Treat Boxes, went live today. I’d love for you to stop by and leave a comment for me.
As part of the crew we’ll complete monthly challenges. Being love month, this month’s challenge was to create a Valentine and send it to someone who wouldn’t expect it.
Check out The Creative Studio for the chance to win a $50 Canvas Corp gift card!

Pin it & Spin it: Yarn Letters
Confession: I have random craft projects stored away from parties and conferences I’ve styled. I just can’t part with crafts once the event is done and they’re no longer needed. This makes for a full craft room. One of my goals this year, along with “making” every day, is to use a good portion of my supplies and all those old crafts before I buy new stuff.
With that in mind I set out to use some old cardboard letters I had saved from an Arkansas Women Bloggers event. I also had some pretty multicolored yarn and scraps of matching felt. This was a fun project and while the pin was an inspiration-I sort of made it up as I went. I mean, it’s wrapping a letter in yarn, right? How hard can that be?
Hahahahaha.
The Pin: These yarn wrapped letters I saw & pinned. They were originally pinned from Etsy.
The Spin: I used these supplies to wrap: yarn; adhesive; double sided tape.
Basically, I ran a length of double sided taped on each part of the letter on both front and back. At the beginning and top I added a drop of glue and secured the beginning of the yarn and began wrapping, pressing the yarn into the double sided tape for extra security. I wrapped one side of the “A” down to the bottom of the triangle and then wrapped the other side. Once I got down to the bottom of the triangle again, I continued across the length again until I reached the “legs” of the A. A drop of glue secured the end of the yarn and I wrapped each leg separately. Finish with another drop of adhesive at the end and we’re done!
My advice is to wrap each part of the letter separately if you have separate parts. For instance, in the “W” the little upside down “v” that creates the “w” is wrapped separately. Just secure the ends with glue. Easy peasy.
The Verdict: While looking easy enough this project took a lot of patience and I originally was going to do four letters: A W B U. I got a little bored and frustrated doing the B and gave up (and I ran out of the yarn). I would definitely do this craft again, though, as they’re great gifts for baby showers, birthdays, and bridal showers.
Wondering what I’ll do with these now that they’ve been repurposed? I’m giving them to a friend who’s initials are A.W.
