I’ve jumped on the Taco Tuesday bandwagon with these Easy Fish Tacos with Spicy Slaw. Really, they’re the perfect quick and easy meal for any night of the week.
We’ve been on the hunt for the perfect fish and breading for baja tacos. Thom loves them and is trying to recreate the amazing tacos he enjoyed on his trips to Mexico. I was leary about them as I am not a seafood fan. We still haven’t found a breading recipe we love but this is what we are enjoying at the moment.
And, I have to admit, I LOVE these.
Easy Fish Tacos with Spicy Slaw
Let’s talk about the sauce. The sauce for these easy fish tacos can be thrown together and served on top of the fish and slaw. Or, as I did here, the sauce can be mixed into the slaw and served on top of the fish or on the side as a salad.
And, for the fish, we found these Tortilla Lime Tilapia fillets at Sam’s Club. I love how crunchy the breading is when they are deep fried. The filets are easy to prepare, just follow the package instructions. They’re ready in just minutes.
The tortillas are pan fried in just a touch of oil. I prefer them crispy and just a little bit browned. I slice the fried fish into strips and divide and layer onto three tortillas. Top with slaw, naked or with the spicy sauce mixed in. Tear some cilantro and sprinkle over the tops of the tacos. It adds a great flavor to these easy fish tacos with spicy slaw!
I know Thom will continue to search for a more traditional homemade fish breading because he enjoys cooking for scratch and he is looking for that authentic fish taco recipe he remembers from his time in Mexico. But, these easy fish tacos with spicy slaw will probably always be my favorite.
