These DIY Marbled Flower Pots are surprisingly simple to make and you may already have all the supplies on hand. Personallly, I have a slight nail polish obsession, though I rarely wear it. Has anyone mastered painting your own nails? Yep. Me neither. Hence, the ten bottles of brightly colored nail polish I have no idea what to do with. Until now.

These DIY Marbled Flower Pots look complicated and fancy but they really are easy.
DIY Marbled Flower Pots
Just about anything can be marbled. Here, I’m using ceramic flower pots. I didn’t need to prep these at all. You can most definitely use terra cotta pots. I would recommend painting them white (using acrylic paint or spray paint) so that the colorful marble really pops. Other things you can marble: paper, wood, glass. In, fact see my next post for a fun glass jar DIY.
Supplies:
- Nail polish
- Water
- Skewer
- Container for water
- Flower Pots
- Paint/Markers, optional
Method:
- Fill container with water. Room temperature is best and should be as deep as you’d like to dip.
- Shake nail polish until well mixed.
- Slowly pour first color on top of the water. If you pour too fast or too much the color will sink to the bottom.
- Pouring slowly ensures the polish will stay at the top.
- Add addtional colors, if desired.
- Use skewer to swirl and mix nail polish colors
- Dip the flower pots into water and remove immediately.
- The nail polish will adhere to the flower pots.
- Set aside to dry thorougly. (I used an old shoe box or a coated paper plate)
- Optional: Paint rims with a coordinating color.
I love the brightly painted rims on these flower pots. You could certainly leave them plain or even tie or glue a coordinating ribbon around the top to make the DIY marbled flower pots even more fancy.
These turned out so great. The colors really pop and even though I was intimidated at first, I got the hang of dipping quickly. And then I didn’t want to stop. I’d love to know what you think! Leave a comment and let me know if you would try these DIY Marbled Flower Pots!

I saw your segment on KATV this morning and loved it! I have a few questions. Are the pots ceramic? Are they glossy or matte? Do you think a clay pot would work like this?
Gina says
Holly! Thanks so much for asking! I was trying to remember all these points to talk about on the segment and I didn’t write them down.
These pots I’m using are ceramic. I didn’t have to do any kind of prep for them at all. You could do terra cotta pots but you would need to paint them white first (paint or spray paint) for the colored marbling to really pop and show up.
You can marble all kinds of things; paper, wood, glass.
Thanks, again! I’m going to edit my post to include this info.
