Friday Five Live: Summer Edition! 5 things to eat an Indian restaurant was inspired by a new Indian restaurant, Tour of India, that opened in Conway.
I had been to an Indian restaurant exactly one time in the past, back when I was a meat eater. I didn’t remember being all that thrilled with it but I’ve become more adventurous, food wise, since being with Thom. He has definitely introduced me to many ethnic foods that I’ve come to love.
5 Things to Eat at an Indian Restaurant
Paneer Tikka Masala This dish consisted of cubes of homemade cheese in a rich tomato gravy. We thought it was tofu until I got home and read the menu online. The consistancy was that of very soft tofu and while it tasted okay, the mouth feel was off for me. The tomato gravy was flavorful and very good.
Mixed Vegetable Pakora Deep fried veggie fritters with spinach, onion, cauliflower, potatoes.
Chef’s Special Vegetables Potatoes, carrots, chick peas
Naan Garlic Bread Can’t recommend this highly enough. I’ve made my own naan in the past but there is nothing like hot naan bread straight from a tandoori oven.
Indian Desserts The carrot pudding looked extremely odd-only because I hadn’t see shredded carrots in pudding. I mean, we eat carrot cake without a thought, right? I gave it a try. It was surprisingly good! A bit too sweet after a few bites but good. We also tried the basmati rice pudding (too runny for my liking) and the Gulab Jamun (a fried curd in a very rich syrup).
There were my top 5 things to eat at an Indian Restaurant. What are yours? To see more of my thoughts on this Friday Five, watch my Friday Five Live below or join in the conversation over at the Desperately Seeking: Inspiration for Creative Living Facebook page.

I can’t remember the last Indian food I had but there’s a newish Indian restaurant in Fayetteville I need to try. Especially if they have that bread!

The last time I ate Indian food, the curry was a bit too-too, but I’m sure I could get into those fried vegetables and garlic bread!

I need to perfect my naan making skills!
