I know what you’re thinking; glitter guide? No way, no how. Sometimes I feel sad for this shiny sparkly gem and believe it really is the most misunderstood craft supply.
But! It doesn’t have to be. With just a few tips and this handy glitter guide, it can be your new best friend. It’s sparkly, it shines, it practically sings with joy.
Okay, I sing with joy over glitter. And, hopefully, so will you. Glitter can’t sing.
Glitter Guide
Tip 1: Don’t listen to what your friends are saying. Glitter is good. Glitter is kind. Glitter is important. If your friends insist, get new friends.
Only slightly joking here. Give glitter a chance.
Tip 2: Prepare a workspace.
- Place small amount of glue in plastic containers (see video). I use this glue.
- Do the same with glitter.
- Work on a piece of card stock or computer paper-something clean and bendy (foldable).
- Designate a small paint brush to sweep glitter from surfaces. Don’t use it to sweep glitter off your face. Don’t ask me how I know this. I’m an expert. I just know, okay?
Tip 3: Choose a good quality glitter. Fine glitter is easier to work with and leaves a smoother finish. Chunkier flakes of glitter come off more easily, but with a better quality glitter it’s fine to use if that’s the look you want.
Tip 4: Can’t find the color you want? Mix your own custom glitter colors. Just pour, stir, and repeat until the desired color appears. Don’t mix your fine glitter and your chunky glitter, though!
Tip 5: Glitter everything! Practice makes perfect. Also? Seal your finished product if you can. It helps keep the glitter from flaking off.
Dont let this Glitter Guide scare you. Glitter really is fun. I made some Glitter Guide videos to show you.
(Part 3 debuts tomorrow morning on the FB page and will update here when it’s ready for its closeup)

Definitely try the brand I mentioned in the video. The colors are so vivid and it’s just a really good quality. Thanks for stopping by!
