…Day Off

The only negative thing about not having to drive to work this morning:

My new camera arrived on Friday! I spent a lot of time reading the manual and not much time taking photos. I sat down around 11pm last night to play around with the camera and the light box, but I quickly got bored. I couldn’t find anything interesting to photograph 🙁 Maybe today I’ll venture outside and find something. Here’s what I was playing around with, though:

I was up super early this morning….6 am! Such a bummer for a day off, but I just couldn’t fall back asleep. So, up I got. Dishes done, breakfast had. Laundry tumbling away. Was working on some stuff for Heather’s shower. And now, I think I’m ready for a nap 🙂

1. Finally graduated from college 🙂
2. Went to Europe
3. Held one job for 11 years (and counting)
4. Moved away from home
5. Fostered an appreciation for that time in my life

Five things I’ve learned since High School
1. Life is what happens when you’re busy making plans.
2. Life doesn’t always go as planned.
3. That time of life really was good
4. Although I think back on how much I liked school itself, being in my 30s is muchMUCH better than being younger.
5. To love myself for who I am.

1. Visit Hollywood {I think I owe Doris Kass some $$}

…Howdy, y’all

Hi guys…I’m still here. Pluggin’ through another work week, and not doing much else. It’s been pretty warm here. Well, I’d call it hot. Near 90. I’m so glad I never used the air conditioning in my car in {Mich} cuz it’s working really well…and is needed every day. The mornings are pretty great though: mid 60s and sunny. I took some pictures on my way to work Monday morning…but have been too lazy to upload them.

Speaking of pictures. This little guy is making his way toward my hot little hands as we speak. Finally…after a year of being camera-less, I’ll have one of my very own. Thom’s been very, very nice about letting me abuse use his. Thank you, Thom!

So, I picked a Fuji…after Thom did muchMuch research. I’m using a Fuji right now..and it takes excellent pictures and this one just feels so nice in my hands. I guess it’s a “bridge” camera. Sort of between a point and shoot and a dslr. It has some manual settings and such that I’ll be able to play with to get ready to move on to a bigger and better camera.

So, that’s it friends. Looking forward the the weekend and sleeping in 🙂 Hope y’all are well and happy!

…Way Back Wednesday

First day of Kindergarten. I love this dress. I would wear it today. The shoes? Not so much. And look how cute my legs were. {sigh} Don’t remember much about Kindergarten. Jason B says I threw cheese at him. I sort of don’t believe it though…I really love cheese. Why would I waste it on him?

…Weekend Update

Uneventful and laid back would be how I described this weekend. Work went smoothly on Saturday. I was actually able to clean up my office, organize my desk, orientate a new hire, and discuss organizational strategy with my boss. Impressive, eh? Saturday evening found Thom and I at Walmart dodging tourists. I did mention that we live in somewhat of a tourist town, didn’t I? The lake and campgrounds here, not to mention the River and it’s campgrounds, attracts a ton of people. And they were crowding into Walmart, and being obnoxious.

Thom scored a light box on clearance…we’ve been wanting one for ages. So I spent the rest of the night playing around, taking pictures of different things inside the light box, tried to figure out lighting and such. Here are my best shots.

The last shot, the book? Found that amongst Grammy’s things. Grammy? My sweet little ole grandmother, with a sex manual? Not to worry though. It wasn’t filled with vulgar how-to photos or tips on technique. Mostly it talked about sexual dysfunctions and menopause {which is what was bookmarked}. It made for an interesting prop to photograph cuz I had a hard time positioning the lighting so that it wouldn’t have a huge reflective bright spot.

Spent the rest of the evening making a new banner with the open book photo. I may seem a bit obsessive about changing this blog banner so often. It’s really just boredom 🙂
