…Snowball Effect
Friends, I’ve experienced a first in my almost-12-years of working in retail. I had three days off a week before Christmas. I know. Unheard of. And I’ve done almost nothing. I did some more laundry. I did some more baking. And I did a lot more eating.
It rained/sleeted/iced ALL DAY LONG Monday {my actual day off}. The store ended up closing on Tuesday {I might mention that there was actually only a couple of inches of ice covering the roads but they HAVE ABSOLUTELY no means of dealing with it}. On Wednesday I was still unsure about being able to get up the side of the mountain so I stayed home again. It was a nice little mid-week vacay. We’ve missed our Holiday celebration week so we’ll have to get that back on track.
I think I forgot to mention that it’s Birthday Week….I’ve been celebrating every day, hence the baking/indulging.
Anyway….I’m off to work for the evening. Is it bad that I’m not wanting to go?
…Baby, it’s cold outside
I had grandiose plans today to get ready for our Holiday Party for the store. I had planned to bake and deliver a few dozen cookies {for cookie day}, shop for my Secret Santa gift, buy the grab bag gifts for the activities for our week-long Christmas celebration and plan and order the food for the potluck meals. Not to mention my huge pile of laundry that needs to be done, some photos I wanted to work on, Christmas gifts to buy and ship, housework, and trying to slip in some quality time with Thom.

…Single girl’s Holiday Tradition
Retail is crazy this time of year. To unwind during the holiday season I used to go home, turn on the Christmas tree lights, take a long hot shower, and plop myself down on the futon for the night to watch my stash of Holiday Movies. Every year, between Thanksgiving and Christmas I’d watch the same movies. This year is no exception {except that crazy uncomfortable futon. lol. It’s long gone and I’ve graduated to a real grown-up couch}.

What are your traditions? What movies do you love this time of the year?
…Shameless Self-Indulgence
I feel guilty about the day I’ve had. Well, almost. Okay, I don’t feel at all guilty, actually. It’s 3:20 pm. I’m still in my pajamas {new pj pants that Thom brought home for me last week, as a surprise-Love him}. I’ve indulged in numerous, sugar-laden cups of Butter-Toffee coffee, eaten the last of the Crunch-N-Munch popcorn, and enjoyed a seriously delicious cream-cheesed bagel. It’s been a lovely lazy day. It is quiet here {did I mention Thom is out getting my oil changed for me? How cool is this guy?} and I’m seriously considering a nap. Seriously.
