…More of the Same

More of the same, friends. So much so that I haven’t even wanted to update here. Unpacking is going slowly. Still washing dishes, putting away all my “stuff,” and wondering where it’s all going to go. We haven’t even started with Thom’s things yet. The house is extremely small. As I’m opening boxes I’m coming across things I think I should have gotten rid of before the move. It’s probably easier to put things into perspective now that I’ve actually lived without them for over a year.

It’s definitely feeling like Spring around here. It’s been in the high 60s and today it’s supposed to be in the 70s. I can’t wait to have dinner out on the deck and enjoy the breeze. I’ll be home in just over a month, though….back to the cold temps of Michigan. Hopefully there won’t be snow 🙂

…Hello, Friends

It’s been a little over a week since I last posted but there is little to report. We are still in the process of moving. In fact we haven’t even started with Thom’s things yet and have another trip to finish up with mine. I have yet to spend the night in the new place. We’re waiting for the “bug people” to come out and do their magic since I am so skittish about creepy crawlies. I haven’t actually seen any as of yet, but Spring is right around the corner and that’s when they usually make their appearances.

We have been over to the house just about every day…taking small loads and working on priority projects–namely, the bathroom. We worked on removing the accordian style bathroom door. It’s a lot more work than I first thought. We’re still trying to remove all the caulk and silicone {sigh}.

Valentine’s Day found Thom and I at Lowe’s looking at paint samples and bathroom vanities. Then, it was off to the bookstore to look for remodeling inspiration. So many decisions and so many different paths to take. And I get to decide 🙂

I keep forgetting to take pictures while I’m over there….but this whole thing will be a slow work in progress so there will be plenty of time.

…Weekend Update

Spent the weekend moving my boxes from storage to the house. We’re moving in fairly small batches and only doing one load a day so it’s taking a bit longer, which is fine since we still have some cleaning to do. Today Thom and I took the fridge apart so that we could reverse the doors. I’m pretty particular as to how the fridge should open in relation to the rest of the kitchen….and it was set up to open away from it. But then I realized it {the fridge} wasn’t as clean as I’d like…so off came all the brackets and handles. They were washed and sanitized and are ready to be put back on. It’s taking a little longer than I thought 😉

Liz asked about the weather. It’s been so warm this weekend–high 60s to low 70s. Perfect 🙂 Here are two more shots from the deck. The first is from Saturday afternoon. The second is Sunday evening. There was a hazy fog covering the moon…but you can still see some of it’s reflection in the lake below.

See that mountain at the very back? Right now we’re living just to the left of it.

…Drumroll, Please!

So my news. The Gods have finally smiled upon Thom and me. Or the planets have aligned. Or we’ve done just {enough} clean living for something really good to happen for us.
We’ve found a house. After a year of diligently searching for *just* the right place…we’ve found it.

What makes it awesomely *perfect* for us:
**It’s in an area called Cove Creek.
**It’s on a big hill overlooking Greer’s Ferry Lake

**It has an awesomely built 3 level deck perfect for entertaining {except, since I have, oh, ZERO friends here….it’ll mostly be me entertaining Thom 😉

**It’s a semi-fixer upper…although the things needing fixing are so minor, like painting, putting up some dry-wall, etc. {painting the exterior…cuz, while green is my fave color and geniuses choose green, this shade is definitely not my fave}

**It has the most adorable carport with a stone floor and a cute little stone-lined pathway right behind the house.

**It has new flooring and new cupboards in the kitchen with plenty of room for all my kitchen gadgets, pots and pans, and baking stuff.
We’ve signed papers and the real estate agents are taking down the listing, signs, and locks and we’ll be given the *keys* sometime this weekend.
Now…all that’s left is the reunion with my Kitchen Aid and Thom carrying me over the thresh hold {at his insistence, although I’m sure that there will be some sort of mechanical lifting device involved}.

….Go Team!!

I have my PomPoms out, fluffed, and ready to cheer on the Lions to a Superbowl Victory!!

What’s that you say? The Lions aren’t in the Superbowl? Hmmm……We’re not much of a football family here. Actually, we’re not into football at all, so we barely even know who’s playing. I’m working all day anyway.

I may have some exciting, much anticipated news to share at the end of the week…so stay tuned. And, Mom……no I am not pregnant….it’s not that kind of news 🙂
