…Weekend Update

I spent a lovely 3 day weekend with Thom at our new old house….we actually slept overnight, despite the creepy crawlies that were found yesterday {an even more gross-out moment for me over finding a dead mouse- finding spiders-Y U C K}. Luckily, I live with a Spider Slayer, so they “disappear” quite quickly.

It rained again all weekend, so Thom and I basically just hung around the house listening to music, Thom read the paper, and I scrapped. It was a calm weekend before a storm of a week since we’ll be kicking it into high gear to get ready to head back up to {Michigan} again in a little over a week. I can’t wait to see the fam again and spend some time with them. We’ll be going camping! I SO cannot wait.

I’ll leave you with a view from my bed. This was around 7:30 Sunday night. It was windy and rainy outside….and quiet and cozy inside.

….He Loves Me, He loves me Not

Thom stopped on the side of the road to pick some yellow daisies for me and I played around with arranging them into my Tarjay dollar- spot vases. I’m not sure if Martha would be proud of me…or just feel sorry for me. They are brightening my evening though!! Along with an AWESOME Kris Allen Victory!!!

…Way Back Wednesday

I’m not sure if it’s just me, or if everyone experiences quirky food moments. A delicious, luxurious bite of chocolate cake with chocolate frosting brings back memories of birthday celebrations with my grandparents at Bill Knapps or a newer memory of a sexy New Years Eve spent with a new boyfriend {of course I’m talking about Thom!}. The smell of freshly baked bread brings back a moment long forgotten; a crisp fall day when I’d been helping my Dad split wood in the backyard while a loaf of steamy white bread baked inside the house. I remember clearly now, taking the bread out of the oven and looking out the window to see my Dad still splitting.

The other day I took a break in the lounge at work and bought a a can of Diet Dr. Pepper and it brought on a rush of memories from the summer when I was 16. It was the first time I had sipped a DDP- on a break from my first job at Michigan’s Adventure amusement park. I started out as a train crossing guard, moved on to concession services, and eventually ended up in the tiny outdoor Flume stand, serving flavored ices {I can almost feel the wisp of the water from the water ride misting my face}. It’s funny that I remember my first sip so clearly {and can’t remember what I had for dinner last night}. I remember the bright blue sky. The sound of children laughing and playing. The coaster zooming up it’s hills and around corners. Silly music playing in the arcade. I remember feeling all grown up

All that from a sip of Diet Dr. Pepper….

If you came into my office today, you were greeted by this dude…and me saying….”That’s the money you’d save shopping at TJ Maxx….and then I’d giggle hysterically. I’m easily amused.

My good friend Lisa needs your help! She’s gonna be locked up this week and needs to raise the bail in order to be released from jail. I’m not sure how much suffering she’ll actually have to go through…since she’s being held at Texas Roadhouse…but the MDA could certainly use your help too 🙂
