…I ♥ Spring

Finally, there is a little Spring showing down here in Ark. Daffodils have been blooming for weeks {they grow wild everywhere and we have tulips and hyacinths blooming in the yard. Trees are budding and some are flowering the prettiest white & pink petals.
The parental units have made it to Ark without incident. They’re camped out in the front yard of our house at the lake. This week will be busy around here. Mom is helping us put on a yard sale over the weekend, and we should be able to clear out some of this house and begin moving our things to the new one.
It is lovely having them here. I’ve been working a lot so I haven’t spent a lot of time with them in earnest. We did have one whole day together- Mom & I stayed in our pjs practically all day {okay, all day} and played with her Cricut. On Sunday we shopped at the Maxx & Target and had lunch at Chilis.
I’m up early this Monday morning. I have a lot on my mind: work related projects that need to be completed ASAP…{like, Tuesday!}, Easter dinner, prep for yard sale, vacation in just 2 weeks, and of course, moving and living in only one house. {sigh}

…Another day, another dollar

…this is how I feel about my job…most days!

I had the most excellent weekend @ home with Thom. Pretty much, I kept the couch company, finished laundry for the week, baked some pizza and oatmeal cookies {found the most excellent recipe here}.

Super excited for the week. Mom & Dad leave on Monday for their journey down there. Neither house is visitor ready….and there is still so much to be taken care of. Mom has so graciously agreed to help with a yard sale and moving. I also have a couple little painting projects I’d like her to help with while she’s here. We do have 6 weeks, after all!
Work will be busy as well. I’ve been working more hours and taking on more responsibilites that have proved challenging and time consuming and I’m starting to feel like I’m making a difference again.

…A Renewal of Hope

We welcomed another Spring season into our world yesterday. I couldn’t help but feel light hearted and that all was right in our world as I bopped around the house cleaning up, doing laundry, and kneading bread dough. The day started out with such a sense of hope; hope that the cold chill of winter was over, hope that a family separated would soon be together again, hope that those so close to our hearts but so far away in distance would stay connected through the miracles of modern technology. I basked in the early morning sunlight and warmth and was confident that the trials we are experiencing at the moment would soon make their way out of our lives and usher in a renewed vigor along with the sweet Spring breezes that flowed in from the outside. It was refreshing.

And then, in the late afternoon it clouded over. The temperature dropped and the breeze became chilly instead of refreshing. The clouds opened up and it rained down the first Spring shower. But this didn’t dampen my spirits, my hope. I suppose I looked at the rain as a washing away of winter, of the cold dark dreariness that is an old man waiting to be reborn.
I stayed up way too late. I didn’t want the day/night to end. I savored every moment with my love last night. It was well after 1 am when we turned out the lights. At 6 I was up for a drink…and the rain continued outside. I stood at the window looking out into the wet night. It was a beautiful sight. I didn’t begrudge Mother Nature for the afternoon and evening of showers. I didn’t feel anxious that it would continue into the next day. It had been a long, cold winter, and it would take much to wash it away.

Happy Wednesday, Friends!

I haven’t anything new or exciting to divulge. I can, however, gush about the gorgeous weather we experienced over the weekend. It was sunny and 70+ both days and I enjoyed my two days away from the store.
I can’t believe it’s already the middle of the week and only 1 more day of hitting the snooze two times before I eventually get up for work! I have Friday off 🙂
We had the first thunderstorms of tornado season down here in Ark…and I am happy to report that the severe weather has stayed just south of us. {as of 9 pm at least!}
I’ll write more later in the week…until then- Smile!
ETA: 9:30 tornado sirens went off just as I climbed into bed. Back up. dressed. and blogging. lol. seems to have passed….love you all!
