There’s nothing like the glitz and glamour of these DIY Mardi Gras Masks to celebrate carnival season. They’re so easy to put together and they will last for years of enjoyment.
To be completely honest, Mardi Gras is not something that I paid much attention to until I moved to South. Last year I traveled to Ruston, Louisiana to help open a new TJ Maxx. Mardi Gras was our theme for grand opening day and I had no idea it would be so much fun shopping for Mardi Gras accessories. (Because I didn’t know until the day before so I had NO TIME to craft anything)

Hopefully, I’ll get the chance to celebrate again because I can make these fun Mardi Gras Masks. And now you can, too! Let the good times roll! Here’s how to make them:
DIY Mardi Gras Masks
These masks take so few supplies and are quick to put together.

- Glitter card stock, foam sheet, faux leather, or felt
- Elastic cording
- Sequins & Spangles
- Eyelets (optional)
- Scissor
- X-acto knife & cutting mat (optional)
- Eyelet setter (optional)
- E6000 adhesive
- Hole punch
- Mask template
To Make the DIY Mardi Gras Masks:
- Print & cut out template.Trace template onto paper, foam sheet, or faux leather.
- Use a scissor to cut out the mask. Optional: use an X-acto knife to cut out eye holes.
- You can use a scissor instead if desired)
- Hole punch each side of the mask near the corners.
- Optional: attach eyelets to the punched holes using the eyelet setter to make the holes sturdier.
- Thread a piece of elastic cord through each hole and knot to secure.
- Decorate the mask with sequins using the E6000. Allow to dry before wearing.
Alternatively: hot glue the masks to skewers or dowels to use as masquerade centerpieces.
Tip: I love using this mat for using an X-acto knife to cut out the eye-holes. It keeps my material (faux leather in this case) in place while I cut. So handy.
