I hope my DIY Ornament for Music Lovers brings as much joy to my giftee as much as their music brings joy to me.
Music brings such joy to me during the holiday season. I love that our local station plays Christmas songs the day after Thanksgiving. I might have driven an extra mile or two around town just to hear my favorite Christmas songs! I must also confess that I sing out loud and proud to each and every one, no matter who is in the car. Ha!

This Christmas ornament for music lovers is so easy to make and you may already have all the supplies on hand. Let’s make it!
DIY Ornament for Music Lovers
I love DIY projects that are super simple and I think you’ll find this an easy ornament to make.
Gather:
- Any type of plastic ornament with a removable lid. I picked mine up at Dollar Tree.
- Sheet music scrapbook paper.
- Scrabble tile pieces. (I love to pick up extra game pieces when I’m out yard sale-ing)
- Black velvet ribbon
- Hot glue gun & hot glue gun
- E6000 adhesive
- Craft knife
Instructions:
- Cut sheet music into strips, about 1/4″ wide, or as desired
- Roll strips into tight circles and then pull apart.
- Place strips into ornament, making it as full as you’d like.
- Spell out the word JOY with letter tiles. Apply a thin layer of E600 glue to the back of the letters and place on a scrap piece of paper; one letter above the next so that they touch. Allow to dry on the scrap book paper. Use a craft knife to trim the paper. Insert the glued tiles into the ornament.
- Replace the cap of the ornament. Adhere the black velvet ribbon to the cap with hot glue.
The ornaments I used had a hanger string already attached to the cap, so once I replaced the ribboned cap, it’s ready to hang!
Once my DIY Ornament for Music Lovers was done, I thought it needed a little something extra at the bottom so I added some Martha Stewart Micro Beads to really make the ornament POP with color. I couldn’t find a good source for these, as I believe Martha’s is no longer being made. I’ve had this bottle for YEARS. These look similar but I can’t vouch for the quality as I’ve never used them.
I think any music lover would appreciate this fun DIY Ornament! Is there a music lover in your life who would love it? Tell me about them in the comments below, or join in the conversation over at the Desperately Seeking: Inspiration for Creative Living Facebook page.
