Paper Fry Boxes for Thanksgiving Munchies

These easy Paper Fry Boxes are a cute & fun way to display and serve appetizers for any occasion. I especially like them for a Thanksgiving buffet where guests can serve themselves while they wait for the main course. My family always ate mid-afternoon on Thanksgiving but my grandma always, always had her meatballs and jelly/bbq weenies waiting for us when we walked in to her house every holiday. That smell and my grandma’s welcome hug are two of my most favorite Thanksgiving memories. Along with this one.

I’ve always bought my fry boxes from my local craft store. I like to use them for gift giving, too. When I ran out of them for this project, I had a mild panic attack (because, I’m supposed to be on tv in the morning) when I realized I couldn’t find my stash of kraft paper fry boxes. I feel ridiculously silly now that I know how easy they are to make. I’ll never buy them again. Let’s make them, m’kay?

Paper Fry Boxes

Can I even call myself an expert paper crafter and NOT have known how easy these paper fry boxes are to make? Sure. Because I didn’t. But now I do. Ha! When YOU are working on projects a simple SEARCH will provide so many options for templates.

This is the template I used. No need to re-invent the wheel when it’s already out there and it’s free to use for personal use.

Note: I did have to make some minor adjustments on the sides in order for them to fold and glue down nicely.

Gather these:

• Patterned scrap book paper (card stock weight is better) or Kraft paper (8.5 x 11 inches)
• Scissor
• Glue (this is my ALL TIME FAVORITE glue!)
• Paper Fry Boxes template

• Step 1: Print template on the wrong side of the paper.
• Step 2: Cut out template and crease along score marks. Use a this for crisp folds.
• Step 3: Apply a thin line of glue to the short side’s inside flaps.
• Step 4: Fold up the short side so that the front flaps overlap the back flaps. Pinch to adhere. Repeat step for the other side.

Glue tips:

• Use a fine tip bottle for easy application.
• This particular glue dries quickly. Once you apply the thin strip of glue, let it air dry for about 20 – 25 seconds before adhering it. This prevents the glue from leaking out and getting all over.

If you’re filing the paper fry boxes with dry foods, there’s no need to line the boxes.

If you’re adding vegetables or something that is moist, add a square of parchment paper before adding the snacks. Be sure to wait until just before setting these out or serving so your paper doesn’t break down.
