Shabby chic is just one of the decorating and crafty styles that I enjoy. It’s not the dominant style I would normally choose but this Shabby Chic Valentine Wreath has been on my mind a lot lately. Actually, this rag bow wreath is not necessarily Valentine themed! It can be used all year round and with any shabby chic or rustic decor, in my opinion. Originally, I had planned on adding some felt puffy hearts but once I got to making, I liked the look without them. I tend to be a plain, no-embellishments, kind of crafter.
I love how this turned out and it goes so well with my Valentine craft room decor. Wanna see how I made this easy Shabby Chic Valentine Wreath? Click on through to check it out!
Shabby Chic Valentine Wreath
The first thing I did was to figure out how to make a DIY Rag Bow. It was so much easier than I thought!
Next I gathered:
10” Straw WreathRuffled Garland (wider width-2 sets)
Straight PinsRag Bow
Burlap & Canvas Rosette (see below for instructions)
How to Make a Burlap & Canvas Rosette
- Cut 5 round circles of colored burlap.
- Starting with your first circle, fold in half and hot glue between the fold. Fold in half again to form a triangle and hot glue in the fold. Repeat for remaining burlap circles.
- I use these handy clips to hold them together while the glue hardens.
- Place 4 of the burlap triangles on the canvas flower with the points touching. Hot glue in place.
- Add a dab of hot glue in the center (on the points) and insert the last burlap triangle.
How to Make the Shabby Chic Valentine Wreath
Step 1: Wrap the straw wreath with both sets of canvas ruffle garland. Leave the plastic on the wreath! This keeps the straw intact (no mess, can disassemble and reuse). Secure in place with a straight pin.
Step 2: Add the canvas rossette with a straight pin on either side of the rosette.
Step 3: Attach the rag bow with one or two straight pins depending on the size and weight of the bow. I used only one pin.
