I’ve been a busy little gnome for the holidays. It started with these fun guys I made a couple of weeks ago. I’m obsessed with these cute Scandanavian creatures and I can’t stop making them.
It’s a good thing, too, because I have a fun Last Minute Christmas Market event next weekend with my friends over at The Twisted Purl in Conway!
Gnome for the Holidays
This has been my first holiday season working from home and I feel like a little bearded gnome doing all the holiday things (despite my research that concluded that gnomes were half the size of man and farmers-I am neither of those things). Perhaps what I most identify with the most is the beard and the jolly hat? Ugh. Hormones. Ha!
So, it’s been snuggling in. Watching holiday movies, making in the craft room, eating all the things I’m supposed to be avoiding (holiday treats, you guys!), and all things gnomes.
I have been nesting a bit; trying to make our cramped dark little cottage home more cheery despite the lack of decorations. The lack of natural light can get a bit depressing during the winter so trying to make it cozy helps. I’ve been lighting a candle while I work in the mornings and enjoying the twinkly lights from the small Christmas tree in the bedroom.
We’ve had crazy weekend weather. No one really knew what was going to happen. Winter weather warnings were issued, reduced to advisories, upgraded again to warnings. Thom and I did the customary might-get-snowed-in-for-eight-days grocery shopping on Thursday just in case. It rained all morning Saturday, turned into freezing rain in the afternoon, snowed a minute in the late evening. We woke up to a glistening coat of ice over everything this morning and now the sun is out and things are beginning to thaw.
It’s back to the craft room I go. I have some gnome things up my sleeve.
