Have you ever had a Fried Avocado? Me neither, but after seeing these amazing pictures, I’m dying to try. I’m a total avocado newbie of recent years. Thom’s guacamole gives me life. In fact, there is a huge bowl of it in the ‘fridge right now just calling out to me, but I have’t eaten “just avocado” very much; on toast a couple of times over the summer, but honestly it got kind of boring eating avocado the same way. Today, though, that’s about to change…

Friends! I have such a treat for you today; a mouth watering, delicious recipe from my favorite food blogger and friend, Lacie from Easy Peasy Pleasy.
Fried Avocado
Hi y’all! I’m Lacie from Easy Peasy Pleasy. I’m super excited to be guest blogging on my friend Gina’s blog.
Avocado lovers beware! These fried avocados are next level and totally addictive! Pair with your favorite dipping sauce and eat your heart out.
As I’m sure most of you already know, Gina’s vegetarian. While I am not, I still love cooking up easy recipes she and Thom can eat; like fried avocados! They are the perfect appetizer for any party, the perfect topping on a burger (or veggie burger for Gina), or the perfect addition to a salad.
There is nothing to making fried avocados. Big pointer is to add plenty of salt. Avocado always needs a bit of salt in my opinion. Whether I’m making guacamole or throwing avocado on a salad, I add salt.

So for this recipe, you need to do a little prep. First you want to make your preferred dipping sauce and get it back in the fridge. I love mixing up some Ranch dip or Siracha Ranch.
Then set up your stations. Get your flour, eggs, and Panko ready in 3 separate bowls. Next, you’ll want to get your oil heated. Finally, it’s time to cut into those avocados.
Cut open your avocado like usual. Remove the pit then remove the avocado from its skin. Make 4 to 6 long slices from each half. I can never halve an avocado perfectly so one side usually scores 4 slices while the other side can get 5 slices. Now is the time to salt. Sprinkle salt on all sides of each slice.
The next 3 steps are super easy. Work in batches of 4 to 6 slices. Coat each slice in flour. Shake off excess. Dip flour coated avocado in egg until well coated. (Once they are dipped in flour, use one hand for egg dipping and the other for Panko dipping.) Cover egg coated avocado slice with Panko, pressing the panko into slice.
Now drop in the hot oil. Fry for 3 to 4 minutes or until golden brown. Place fried avocado slices on paper towels to soak up grease and salt generously while still hot.
Fried avocados
- Vegetable oil for frying
- 2 large eggs, beaten
- 1 cup Panko breadcrumbs
- 2 ripe avocados, sliced into 16 to 18 slices
- salt to taste
Directions
- Preheat oil in a small pot to 350 degrees. Place eggs, flour, and panko in 3 separate bowls. Salt all sides of avocado slices. Working 4 to 6 slices at a time, dredge the avocado in flour shaking off excess. Then coat with egg letting the excess egg drip off. Next, place the avocado slices in panko. Lightly press panko into avocado on all sides. Drop the panko coated avocado slices in preheated oil for 2 to 4 minutes or until golden brown. Remove to paper towel lined pan and salt immediately. Repeat above steps until all slices are cooked. Serve with your favorite dipping sauce. Eat and Enjoy.

Thanks, Lacie! These fried avocados remind me of my adventures in frying a couple of summers ago and I can’t wait to try these. I’m a tad bit obsessed with avocado right now.
Kitchen Tools You’ll Need to Make Fried Avocado
An Avocado slicer makes quick work of getting those yummy avocados ready for dipping and frying.
I Like to use pie plates to set up my dredging stations.
This deep fryer is on our wish list. We deep fry a lot, though, and I’m taking my time deciding which one is the perfect fryer.
