This time of year makes me want to cozy up in my new warm Santa slippers, put on a Christmas movie, and snuggle in with a steaming hot cup of cocoa. What goes better with cocoa than Easy Chocolate Peppermint Spoons? Nothing. The answer is nothing.
What I love about these chocolate and peppermint dipped spoons is that they’re semi-homemade. I picked up the milk chocolate spoons while out shopping and I already had the chocolate chips (to melt for dipping) and the peppermint crunchies waiting for a special occassion.

The milk chocolate spoons on their own are fantastic swirled into hot cocoa. The peppermint takes them over the top. And, if you can’t be over the top at Christmas time, when can you? (the answer is: ANYTIME YOU WANT!) Let’s make these Easy Chocolate Peppermint Spoons, shall we?
Easy Chocolate Peppermint Spoons
There are plenty of how-to’s and “tutorials” on how to make chocolate dipped spoons with plastic utensils but these milk chocolate spoons make hot cocoa even more special, especially if you’re a mega-chocolate lover like I am.
Look for these kinds of treats in the gourmet food section of stores like TJ Maxx, Homegoods, Marshalls, and Tuesday Morning. These are all my favorite places to shop for specialty foods and treats. If you’re in a pinch and need them quick you can also find them here. The best prices, though, will be at off-price retailers (note: off-price retailers are different than “discount” stores. The food merchandise at stores like TJ, HG, & TM are not spoiled or outdated. And, sometimes, food is made especially for these kinds of retailers.)
Start out with these already-fabulous milk chocolate spoons.
Melt 1/4 cup of chocolate chips for 30 seconds in a microwave. Stir until melted or place back into the microwave for 10-second intervals until melted. I used dark chocolate chips here because that’s what I had on hand.
Working quickly, dip the milk chocolate spoons into the melted chocolate and then into the peppermint crunchies. Set aside on parchment paper or waxed paper to harden or pop them into the refrigerator for a few minutes until hardened.
Package them up for gifting or enjoy with your favorite cup of hot cocoa!
Using this method you can dip your milk chocolate spoons into anything:
- crushed cookies
- toffee bits
- seasonal sprinkles
- mini chocolate chips (oh, the chocolate on chocolate!)
- coconut
What would YOU dip with your chocolate spoons? I’d love to hear about it over on the Desperately Seeking: Inspiration for Creative Living Facebook page.
