It’s no secret I’m in love with October and all things pumpkin. I’ve had this Pumpkin Spice Cheerios Snack Mix on my mind since it was released back in 2016 but I never dug in to figure out how to make a sweet snack mix because, well, inevitably, I would devour the entire box of Pumpkin Spice Cheerios before figuring out a recipe. I might also mention that I normally limit myself to one box per season in order to enjoy aforementioned “all things pumpkin.” I did have to buy a second box in order to produce this sweet and salty cereal snack mix, but it was all in the name of bringing the pumpkin goodness to the masses.

I based the Pumpkin Spice Cheerios Snack Mix on the popular “Puppy Chow” “Muddy Buddies” recipes I’ve seen all over the place. I’ve never had them myself. Let’s make the pumpkin spice mix, shall we?
Pumpkin Spice Cheerios Snack Mix
There are so many yummy variations that can change the dynamics of this cereal snack mix. See my notes below the recipes for some suggestions.
Pumpkin Spice Cheerios Snack Mix
- 5 cups Pumpkin Spice Cheerios
- 1/2 cup peanut butter
- 1/2 cup white chocolate chips
- 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
- 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon cloves
- 1/4 teaspoon ginger
- 1/4 teaspoon allspice
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 3/4 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 8 oz bag Brachs Mini Candy Corn and Peanuts
Pumpkin Spice Cheerios Snack Mix
- Place Cheerios in a large bowl and set aside.
- In a small bowl, combine peanut butter, white chocolate chips, and butter. Microwave in 30 second intervals until chocolate is almost melted. Remove from microwave and stir until all the chocolate is melted and the mixture is smooth.
- Stir into the peanut butter mixture: cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, ginger, and the allspice.
- Pour the spiced peanut butter mixture over the Cheerios and stir until all the cereal is coated.
- Dump out the coated cereal mixture onto a parchment lined cookie sheet to let cool. (I left mine in the bowl and it was fine) Let cool about 10 minutes until the coating has cooled off but is still wet enough for the powdered sugar to cling to. The point here is to NOT MELT OFF the powdered sugar if the coating is too hot.
- Pour the powdered sugar and the 3/4 teaspoon cinnamon into a large re-sealable plastic bag or a bowl with a tight fitting lid. Add the coated cereal mix and shake to coat with the powdered sugar/cinnamon mixture.
- Add the Brachs Mini Candy Corn and Peanuts. Shake to combine.
- Pour into a serving bowl and ENJOY!
Notes for making Pumpkin Spice Cheerios Snack Mix
- Add more Cheerios if the mixture seems too wet. You don’t want a sticky mess when you add the cereal to the powdered sugar.
- I thought the mixture could use more Brachs Mini Candy Corn & Peanuts. You do you!
- Switch up the additions:
- Add more white chocolate chips at the end, or use cinnamon chips!
- Add 1/2 cup of chopped pecans to the Cheerios before coating with the peanut butter mixture
- I love this parchment paper for holiday baking.

This looks so good. It would be perfect to put in little treat bags for my students … or for me to just, you know, eat the whole batch myself!
