The SUPER great thing about my Mummy Wrapped Cheeseball is that you don’t have to be precise; as a matter of fact, the messier, the better! Lets get started…
Mummy Wrapped Cheeseball
You’ve probably had this cheeseball a million times at parties, showers, and barbecues. The recipe is SO easy. Back in the day when I was making this cheeseball recipe, I was a carnivore and used dried beef as one of the cheeseball ingredients. Since I’ve since become vegetarian I had to find an alternative to the dried beef. I came up with an EXCELLENT substitute: Tofurky Deli Slices! If you’ve read my blog for any amount of time, you probably have heard me wax poetic about my beloved Thanksgiving Tofurky.
Serve the Mummy Wrapped Cheeseball on a large platter. The one shown here is 12″ X 9″ and was a tad too small for my liking. I normally use a larger platter but I couldn’t find it in time for this post. There’s no need to cover the platter; just form the cheeseball right on the plate or platter.
You could also make this mummy cheeseball smaller by halving the recipe but I think this is a great size to WOW guests!
Mummy Wrapped Cheeseball
- 3 lbs. cream cheese, divided & room temperature
- 2 cups green onion, chopped
- 2 cups mild cheddar cheese, shredded
- 1/2-1 cup finely chopped Tofurky Deli Sliced turkey, or dried beef (add to taste)
- 2-3 tablespoons milk
- One black olive ring
- Disposable 16″ inch piping bag
- Coupler and cake decorating tip
Mummy Wrapped Cheeseball Directions
- Place 2 lbs. softened cream cheese in a mixer (or mixing bowl).
- Add green onions, mild cheddar cheese, and chopped Tofurky slices (or dried beef, if using).
- Mix until combined.
- Shape cheeseball dip into the form of a mummy. Place a rectangler section in the middle. Form a smaller square for the head. Shape more dip into 2 arms and 2 legs. The easiest way is to form logs and pat them into squares. See video for demonstration.
- In a separate bowl, place remaining 1 lb. cream cheese and milk. Mix until combined and cream cheese is a good, pipeable consistency.
- Add coupler to piping bag and trim end to fit. Add cake decorating tip and secure the tip to the coupler and bag with ring.
- Fill piping bag with thinned cream cheese mixture. Twist top of bag to keep shut.
- Pipe mummy “bandages” over the mummy.
- Cut an olive ring into three parts for eyes and mouth and place on mummy head.

Tools to Make the Mummy Wrappd Cheeseball
- KitchenAid Mixer– this makes mixing the cheeseball ingredients stress free and SO easy. A Flex Edge Beater makes scraping the sides convenient.
- Disposable piping bags– THE easiest way to get those bandages to look like mummy wrappings.
- Basket Weave decorating tip– I use the basket weave tip. Be sure to point the jagged edge down so you get the smooth side up for your wrappings. See video for instructions.
- Standard Coupler– this is what attaches the decorating tip to the disposable piping bag.
- KitchenAid Hand Mixer– for smaller mixing jobs, I always use my hand mixer.
Serve an assortment of crackers and veggies with the Mummy Wrapped Cheeseball!
