These fun autumn inspired buckets can be used for gifting treats and small gifts, take only a few supplies and a little imagination. Let’s make some Fall Scarecrow Buckets!
Fall Scarecrow Buckets
Supplies:
- DIY Paint Cans
- Canvas Corp Burlap Flowers (one for each can)
- Canvas Corp Burlap Flower
- Rafia, Twine, or Sisal
- Heavyweight kraft paper or cereal box cut into 1 1/2 inch strips
- Stapler
- Scissor
- Hot glue and hot glue gun
- Alphabet Stickers
- Orange, Black, and/or Green Felt
- Black & Orange Sharpie Marker
- Assorted Ribbon
- Googly Eyes
Directions:
- Make hair: wrap sisal (or twine) around a six inch piece of heavy card stock. Cut one end and lay out sisal. Tie in the middle with a small piece of sisal or twine. Hot glue this bundle to the bottom of the canvas flower.
- Remove lid from DIY paint can. Attach the hair & canvas flower piece to the top of the paint can lid with hot glue. Let sit to adhere (may place a heavy object on top to secure)
- Make hat: cut a 1 1/2 strip of cardboard. Roll into a tube and secure with two staples. Cut off a diagonal portion of the bottom. Apply a small line of hot glue and attach some twine. Wrap twine all the way up the rolled tube and secure with more hot glue at the top.
- Optional: cut a small piece of cardboard to cover the tube/hat.
- Hot glue the hat to the top of the canvas flower.
- Place letter stickers on DIY paint can. Spell out a name or a phrase.
- Using the Sharpie marker, draw a squiggly mouth above the letter stickers. Add scarecrow slashes through mouth.
- Cut a triangle nose from the orange felt. Use black Sharpie marker to make slashes. Hot glue to the DIY paint can above the mouth.
- Cut 2 black felt tear drops for eyes. Adhere to the paint can with hot glue.
- Attach googly eyes to the felt tear drops.
- Alternatively, you can draw all the features with the black and orange Sharpie markers.
- Tie ribbon into bows onto the handles of the DIY paint can.
- Fill buckets with candy, treats, small gifts, or my Fall Bucket List Cards
- Make additional characters: for the witch: use a black canvas flower, make a hat out of black felt and attach to the hat with hot glue. Add some black twine hair using the same method as above.
- What other character buckets would you make?
I LOVE fall bucket lists and I thought it would be fun to include a Fall Bucket List card in these Fall Scarecrow Buckets. You can download the PDF and write out your own Fall Bucket List to-dos!
