Happy Fall, friends! I’m celebrating with a healthy dose of pumpkin spice and also with a new series over on Facebook LIVE. Catch me every Friday for Friday Five Live, a live chat about five topics chosen by myself and YOU! Have a topic you’d like to discuss? Leave suggestions in the comment section. Remember, this is meant to be fun and informational so no hot topics, please.
Today’s episode is all about celebrating the home team and 5 Ways to Cheer for the Home Team as suggested by my good friend Julie.
You can check out the Friday Five Live chat over at the Desperately Seeking Gina FB Page!
5 Ways to Cheer for the Home Team
- Face Paint! Show your team spirit with this easy DIY Face paint recipe. Takes less than five minutes to make and you probably have all the ingredients on hand. Score!
- 1 tablespoon lotion
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
- Food coloring or paste
- 1 teaspoon glitter
- Mix it all up until blended well and apply with a tiny paintbrush or cotton swab.
2. DIY PomPoms. Make your own pom poms to wave during the game. Supplies are easy to gather-tissue paper, mylar paper (find it in the gift wrapping section), tape, an old skinny catalog, and a scissor. Find a load of detailed tutorials here.
3. Tailgate. Even if you don’t go to an actual game there are a ton of tailgating recipes you can make and enjoy at home while you watch on tv (or listen on the radio! I love listening to a game in the background on a Friday night.). See my Tailgating Pinterest Board for ideas.
4. Pep Rally. Remember pep rallies in the school gym on game days? They were tons of fun. My school had fun activities, like the time I got a pie in the face from the athletic director (he totally rigged the contest, by the way). If you have kids, put on your own pep rally at home with games and fun marching band music for added team spirit.
5. Go to an actual game! Going to a real, Southern Friday Night Lights football game is on my Fall bucket list this year. It’s also worth noting that I am currently binge watching Friday Night Lights so it’s easy to get into team spirit. Support your community, the sports boosters, and the team by buying a ticket and showing up to cheer on the team.
