Life is moving right along here in our little cove. This week has found me scrambling to meet deadlines, spending a lot of time editing videos and learning new software, and less time at the nine-to-five job (although, it really is a seven-to-three job for me). Having worked most weekends in retail for the last {almost} twenty years this new schedule has me all googly eyed with wonder at having a three days off every weekend.
This new development has brought with it an inspired date-night vibe to our weekends. Last weekend, for instance: Thursday night, Cinco de Mayo, found us in Searcy at Thom’s fave Mexican restaurant where we sat and made eyes at each other as we enjoyed our meal. We don’t eat out often so this seemed like a special treat. After that, we shopped at Lowes, walking the aisles hand-in-hand as we planned spring and summer projects for our little Cove Cottage.
Friday night we ventured out to Little Rock to catch an Arkansas Travelers game. It was a first for us both. Having both grown up in Detroit Tiger land in Michigan, we found Dickey-Stephens surprisingly quiet, well-mannered, small, and well kept. Of course I posted to the socials while there and was delighted to find our game-night pic on the huge jumbotron between at-bats. I hadn’t told Thom about the hashtagged photo and he was the first to notice our huge faces looming over the park. It was fun and so silly. It was a perfect night for a game; low temps, no humidity, no bugs, and a light breeze. We both kept remarking what a perfect night it was to be out. Sometimes I think we get so cozy here in our Cove and don’t venture out enough but other times, I think if we left home more than nought, we’d appreciate nights like those less.
Isn’t downtown Little Rock just so quaint there behind the stadium?
Saturday we putzed around the house-I had video projects due so I crafted out on the deck and later we both started some long overdue yard work and worked together raking and blowing leaves. We planned out a landscaping project and stayed outside til the Cove grew dark. Sunday was a video-making day and Thom helped me set up as he always does and then he ran into town for groceries while I finished up my tasks.
So that brings us to the beginning of the work week. I didn’t post all week because I was busy arranging video clips, perusing music for videos, and taking in too much screen time (computer and the Gilmore Girls on Netflix). Also-I haven’t been sleeping at night so my energy level after getting home from work has been pretty nil.
Another weekend is upon us. I was up early this morning after a night of very little sleep (three hours) to hit some yard sales in Heber. This afternoon we’ll venture off to LR again and there’s more yard work and craft projects to work on over the next couple of days. It’s a happy time in the Cove and in my heart.
