You know what gets me up early on a Saturday morning? Early, as in 7 am on a day I don’t have to be to work, have no plans, nowhere to be, no deadlines? Blueberry muffins. The promise of a tender crumbed muffin bursting with blueberry goodness fresh from the oven will do it every time. I’d been dreaming of these breakfast delights for days and even though I had an extra day off this week I waited until Saturday to bring them to life.
I was not disappointed. In case you’re wondering the recipe I used was from Eunamae’s.
It was a beautiful day in the cove; warm enough to be outside without a jacket but just breezy enough to not be able to enjoy the muffins and OJ while watching the sun move over the lake and behind the hill behind us. I gave it the old college try though and enjoyed the chirping birds and juicy blueberries 2.5 seconds before returning inside to finish my Saturday morning treat.
The afternoon was beautiful and warmed into the 70s. I headed out to our local country market/nursery to pick up some succulents for a project I’m working on. The sun was beaming as I lovingly perused the perennials, trees, and shrubs that were just begging to come home with me. I wish my thumb was as green as my desire to be a gardener is. For now, I’ll keep practicing with succulents-they’re pretty sturdy and hard to kill. Sadly, the market had only Hens & Chicks available. They’re common and I was hoping for something a bit more exotic but since I don’t have any I went ahead and picked out a few.
I love this time of year when the weather is warming and the sun is not scorching but pleasant and friendly. I added some bags of potting soil and cactus soil along with new terra cotta pots to my arsenal and made my way home to play with paint and plants.
Such a lovely weekend, I can’t help but smile. I’ll try to hold on to the feeling as I head into another work week filled with deadlines and assignments to complete.
Something else that’ll be fun to look forward to? Pin it & Spin it Monday returns next week. I had meant to bring it back last month but missed it when I decided to migrate to WordPress. Join me the first Monday of every month for a Pinterest-inspired post and add your own to my link party. April 4th will start a whole new season of getting those pictures off of Pinterest and into our lives. Sound like a plan?
