For the longest time I didn’t tell anyone outside my circle of friends and family I blog. And then I got caught up in watching the stats; page views, comment numbers, shares, likes, blah, blah, #bloggerproblems.
With higher numbers there are better chances of becoming a brand influencer or ambassador. The more sponsored posts and the more interactions the blog generates means an income for the blogger. One could get seduced by the prospect of working from home.
So, I began to tell everyone who’d listen about my blogging game. Just yesterday I was in the middle of new hire orientation at work and I had mentioned blogging which led to questions and then led to one of the kids saying “so you’re one of those popular, well known bloggers?” Well, duh. Of course I said yes.
Okay. Maybe I’m only a big deal here on my blog. Or, in my head.
For too long I’ve been caught up in the romance that is blogging for a living. I meant to step away from the day job and write but I’m not seeing it happen just yet. I’m not giving up altogether; just getting back on track, getting back into the practice of writing and sharing (read oversharing), and getting back to what made me love this space. If it’s meant to be, the rest will follow, right?
To start, I’m joining NaBloPoMo again. It’s been a couple of years since I’ve blogged every day in November. I’m not promising prose, friends. Most likely it’ll be blurbs, or dinner pics, or heck-pictures of the cat.
Whatever it is-it’ll be me. Here. Still desperately seeking Gina.
Hope to see you around.
