How do you feel about eating alone? The first time I did it I was managing a TJ in a city an hour away from home. I had no friends in the town and I just couldn’t manage brown bagging it every day. Winter is brutal in Michigan so eating in the car was out and I always, always needed to get out of the store to unwind for awhile.
So, eating alone it was. It wasn’t so bad, especially once I became a regular and the waitstaff got to know me at my favorite lunch spot.
I’ve been dining alone ever since.
A new lunch spot opened up a few stores down from my current location and I checked it out on my lunch hour today.
Other than the extremely loud music (does that make me sound old?) and the uncomfortable metal seating (short girl problems) I enjoyed the restaurant. I chose a simple pie with mozzarella, parmesan, and a spicy red sauce and a shake (or ten) of red pepper flakes. It was delicious and gone almost as fast as it was fired (I was h u n g r y).
I’m sure it won’t be long until the staff knows me by name (and spells it correctly).
Are you comfortable eating alone?
