activation energy- the force required to get you to change what you’re doing on auto pilot to do something new
This got me thinking and self-talking. So, self. You’re bored. What are you going to do about it? (everyone talks to themselves, right?)
And then, Newton-Sir Isaac Newton-answered me. You know, an object at rest stays at rest and and an object in motion stays in motion with the same speed and the same direction unless acted upon by an unbalanced force. (Newton answers everyone talking to themselves, right?)
This got me thinking more and harder, even. Rather than let some random and/or tragic life event determine my course, I will be the unbalanced force that pushes me into something new. And, hopefully, something better.
I am doing something different. I’m not sure what. I’m not exactly sure when. But, I’ve taken the first steps; I told my bosses to find my replacement and I made it Facebook official.
I’m looking to cut back my hours at my day job to pursue other, more creative pursuits. It may be writing. It may be becoming a virtual assistant or an online administrative consultant, a social media liaison if you will. It may be a different part time job closer to home. I haven’t quite worked that out just yet. But I’m reading. I’m researching. I’m asking questions and listening closely.
Saying it out loud, for real, changes everything by the way. I can already feel the force moving me along.
What motivates you?
(by the way: when I say the words “activate energy” I keep thinking about this phrase: “Wonder Twin Power, Activate! Anyone remember these Junior Superheroes?)
