Thom would tell you that I’m a girly-girl. I would tell you that I’m a sometimes-girly-girl. I like makeup, I do. It’s just-such a hassle to pick out the best colors, I end up sweating it off mid morning (ewww…even girly-girls sweat!), and when I run out, I’m SO not inclined to spend money on makeup. I have other things to purchase; like craft supplies and food. The same can be said with all beauty routines, actually. I’m super lazy with haircuts, dyeing, repainting nails.
One indulgence that I absolutely love is having my eyebrows waxed. On a whim while on vacay in Michigan, I decided to try a DIY waxing kit.
I was a bit apprehensive about applying hot wax to my person but eventually thought-it’s only hair, it’ll grow back, right?
Prep was easy. I’m glad I spent extra and bought a kit that included a cleanser, wax remover, and two lotions. The wax remover was helpful.
The process is easy enough; heat the wax in a microwave, cleanse the area to be waxed, apply with popsicle sticks, cover with provided strips, and yank those babies off. Follow up with soothing lotions.
Easy, if you’re someone other than myself. The first go-round was fine but there were those few little strays that I should have just tweezed. Emphasis on should have. I reapplied the wax and proceed to strip off a tiny hole in the middle of my left brow. How did that happen? I have no clue. It was literally dead center in the middle.
I was surprisingly calm about it. I just touched it up a bit with a brown pencil and no one seemed to be the wiser. At least they didn’t mention it to my face.
So, will I try it again. Sure. I mean there’s enough wax there to last a year. I’ll just practice more and be a bit more careful.
