Despite a slow, miserable start (work related issues) this summer is seriously looking up. Not only did I buzz through most of my vacation time just trying to avoid being present at the aforementioned miserable job, we have had the most excellent of weather. Actually, that’s not completely true. It has rained a little too much for my own personal liking…but I do have to mention that seeing Arkansas-The Natural State-in such beautiful shades of healthy green sure beats the brown, crusty look we normally sport this far into the summer. But the temps. Record setting low daytime temps-70s!! It was a lovely week, for sure.
I’ve been in the kitchen enjoying some summertime baking while it’s not sweltering. Blueberry crostata followed by a cherry version a week later (went so quickly there was no time for pics).
Pursuing: bucket list items! Practicing some book binding and cover making-haven’t quite mastered the technique but I’m having a good time learning.
More bucket listing: Working from home. Something came over me back when I was on vacay-and I sent an email pitching my social media savvy to a up-and-coming vintage show business opening in Heber. I never expected an answer. I got one in two minutes flat! We met for coffee, discussed a vision, goals, pricing (!) and ended with a handshake and the beginnings of a friendship (yay!). I’ve been spending my free time photographing, editing, social media-ing (Facebook, Instagram, Newsletter) and will take on the website here, soon. It has been exhausting but also so fun and a great practice.
Blogging: I know, I know. It’s been quiet here, but I’ve been around. I was honored to be invited to guest post by three of my most favorite blogs- Camp Lovely & Grace, Grits, and Gardening, & Eggs and Herbs. And, guesting meant creating and creating meant-crafting! Yay. I’ve totally been on a roll since moving all my craft supplies to the living room (ha!). I also worked on a freelance (read: paid! bucket list item check-off!) about the cardboard boat races for Only in Arkansas.
Busy, yes. Feeling productive and fulfilled, yes and yes. Loving it? Definitely.
What are you up to this summer?
