Gone are the days when I could go out on a weeknight, have a few drinks, visit with friends, and stay up past 9:30 pm.
Seriously. It used to be that I could wake up the next morning, sans hangover. And, if it was a particularly wild night {okay, I’ll fess up-there were never any wild and crazy nights in my youth}, I could at least recover in my office the next day; shielded by the cover of a private, locked office.
Now, though. Ugh. Slightly dizzy waking up. Walking around in a day-long fog. Standing in front of a group of people. Sweats {which I swear are attributed to early menopause-it can happen at 39, right?}. Unable to make my lips form words. Sweats. Yes…this was my day.
Anywho. So last night after our Rocktown Distillery Tour {of which I will blog about-soon-because it was SO COOL} Thom and I joined a couple other ARWB friends for dinner at a pub in downtown Little Rock. We’d never been. I’d never had Guinness. I was looking forward to fish ‘n’ chips, too.
The Guinness did not disappoint. Have I ever mentioned that up until last summer, I’d spent my misguided youth drinking watered down, yucky tasting grocery-store beer brands? I’ve now made it my mission to only drink the good stuff.
The fish ‘n’ chips? Meh. I SO don’t want to be one of those “we make it better” couples because it sounds a tad bit braggy and obnoxious. But, man, we could do it better. But, it was nice to have a meal out with friends that we didn’t cook ourselves.
Confession: It’s been seven years since I’ve eaten beef but for some odd reason all week I’d been craving a burger and look what my good ‘ole friend Lisa ordered!?! Doesn’t this look amazing? Mouth watering amazing? I wonder if it would break any vegetarian rules if I were to just lick it? Sigh.
I’m seeing a veggie burger with blue cheese in my very near future.
