Considering we’re anticipating our first freeze of the season, this craft may be a little late. I was so excited to have come up with it for the Saturday night picnic decorations at the Arkansas Women Bloggers Unplugged conference. It was a last minute, wake-up-at-2am-after-having-dreamt-about it-craft, followed by hauling sleepy rear the craft room to see if I could make it work. I had grand plans of making one for each table, 20 needed in total. But, I had too much to do that was already thought out so I delegated the task of building them to Thom {no, really…he volunteered} and we only had time for four.
So easy to make. What you’ll need:
- Natural Grapevine Wreath or gather real twigs and branches. We used both.
- Hot glue gun
- Battery operated tea light candle
- Brown marker
Method:
- Cut wreath or twigs to desired length.
- Make a bed of twigs and lay them side by side to form the base. Hot glue them together.
- Form the campfire and hot glue twigs together at the top. Once the glue has hardened you can chip away excess and use the marker to color in the glue to look more natural.
- Use the marker to color the sides of the battery operated tea light {if it’s white}. Hot glue bits and pieces of the wreath or twigs to the sides to make it blend in and appear natural.
- Switch on the tea light candle and place atop the bed of twigs. Top with the campfire twigs.
Sit back and enjoy!!
Here’s one using real twigs. Sidenote: only a blogger would understand the question: can I borrow your plate of food for a photo? hahaha
Don’t forget to take them to your next picnic for a little rustic ambiance.
