Friends. I’m so happy to have today’s pumpkin guest poster here in my little space. Sara is a truly lovely soul I had the honor of meeting at #awbu after having read her delightful blog for a few months. I only regret I didn’t get to spend much time with her at the conference. Please be sure to stop by her place and check out her lovely blog, her beautiful family, and her awesomely rosy outlook on life. To Sara: thank you for sharing with us today!
Hi everyone and Happy October! I’m Sara and blog six days a week at The Rosy Life. I simply adore autumn. Cooler temperatures, layers, hot drinks, fires in the wood-burning fireplace, crunchy leaves….so many sights and smells to take in.
Of course one of my most obvious favorites about this season are the pumpkins. Really I can’t quite even put my finger on what is so delightful about them. They’re just jolly to me. And so brightly colored! We always have them sitting around here and there during the autumn months.
After Gina kindly asked me to guest post a pumpkin idea I began thinking about ways to dress my favorite autumn statement piece up a bit. I first thought of bunting. I’m a bunting kind of gal all the way. It’s hung and strung in every nook and cranny of my home. The next genius thought was my husbands, believe it or not. He had the idea to make a mini banner on top, almost like you would see on top of a cake. And there it was-the perfect accessory for my delightful pumpkin.
To make this pumpkin banner you’ll need two kitchen skewers, fabric scraps, string or jute, and scrapbook embellishments (or whatever sign you’d like to hang in the middle of the banner).
To create this I simply cut mini pieces of bias tape (but you could use fabric! This is what I happened to have on hand) and tied them around a piece of jute (similar to string). Next I created a little sign using some scrapbook supplies I had on hand and clipped it to the middle of the jute with a mini clothespin.
Last, I tied the jute to the kitchen skewers and stuck them in the pumpkin.
And that’s it! Easy and what a great way to make a little bit of an extra statement during the fall months. I think these would be lovely on a front porch, or even as centerpieces at a wedding or fall party.
Enjoy everyone and I look forward to seeing you at The Rosy Life!
Sara
