Thom is in the process of making this couple look more like “us” |
Can I just say that I’m l o v i n g this flea-ing, antiquing, junking, vintage wedding process? Seriously. I’m glad there’s so much time because I’m really enjoying taking my time and learning to dig deeper, look beyond the surface, and learning when to walk away {Disappointed, yes. Return to look, yes. Wind up purchasing after several visits, sometimes}. I’m slowly realizing that if I don’t absolutely L O V E something- it just doesn’t need to come home with me.
I love the feel of old things. I love the smell. I love the stories that these old vintage finds must hold within their inanimate beings. If only they could talk. But, they do speak to me, as crazy as it sounds. They call out to me from their glass encasement. They lure me in with their faded beauty and nostalgically soft romance. Sometimes I’m in love immediately. And other times, I think about a piece as I peruse the shops. I think about them as I leave and drive home. Often, I think about them as I drift off to sleep. And most times, I drive back to rescue my finds. In my head I reason: if it’s there, it’s meant to be. If not, then so be it.
It’s funny how something I’ve never really liked in the past {like flea-ing, antiquing, junking, in fact!} suddenly becomes beautiful in a new light. Gold, for instance; never been a fan, but now I’m loving. And- hoping that this adoration lasts a year until the wedding!
Sidenote: I’m loving that tiny cream & gold couch with the painted red velvet tuft up there in the first pic. Wouldn’t that just make the loveliest real-life wedding portrait? Adding it to my must-find vintage list. Fingers crossed for me, friends?
