When I was younger I swore I wouldn’t be one of those women; the ones who dyed their graying hair every few weeks, or invested a lot of time and money into face and neck moisturizers, or even those who wore tight turtlenecks with their necklaces hanging down their sweatered chests. I wouldn’t try to dress younger or use hip, cool language and flow with the latest, greatest fashion trends. I’d grow old, gracefully.
This morning I looked in the mirror a good long time. I studied my reflection; the face was the same with the addition of some adult-onset acne and a few lines around the mouth and eyes, but basically still looking young-ish. My fingers found their way to my neck and a crease I hadn’t noticed before and as my fingers moved over the flesh, it wiggled. It. Wiggled. Or, maybe it jiggled -I’m not sure of the technical term, but. it. wasn’t. firm. And I may have freaked out just a bit. Now, call me cynical…but that’s just not graceful.
So I’m thinking I’ll just wear more jewelry. Like, lots of jewelry and maybe no one will know there’s wiggle under there.

My hands have turned into my grandmothers….I like all the necklaces – great idea!

Turtlenecks are so Diane Keaton. Very cool. Very eclectic. Very cover-up. I (understandably) have a lovely (and large) wardrobe of them. If you ever want to borrow one or two or more, let me know. I share well.

Don't get me wrong…I love turtlenecks and had my own collection of them when I was skinny. Now they don't look so great on me.

You are NOT OLD. You look REALLY YOUNG. And I'm not saying it to be nice. When we met I thought you were my age. Seriously.
So stop it.
Love you, gal!

Oh, I know I'm not old but I'm definitely seeing things change and shift, and sag and droop!! Luckily, most days I feel like I'm 19.
