It’s funny how a little bling in my life could change my whole perspective on the subject of weddings. Bling, and age too, I suppose. When I was in my early twenties I thought I’d be married already {and with children}. I collected stacks of MSL Wedding issues and still perused every wedding magazine at the bookstore. At thirty, while I hadn’t given up completely on marrying, the fairy tale ideal sort of wore off.
Now that there’s some serious bling on my finger I’m getting excited again. And also-inundated with the amount of inspiration out there. Holy information overload, Batman.
For now, I’m bopping around Pinterest adding to my Wedding Inspo board {which, by the way, has been there since the creation of Pinterest} and filing away ideas to incorporate to the many, many ideas I have that are my own.
Formative details:
- Tentative wedding date: October 12, 2013 subject to venue availability {of which we’re still searching}. Also to consider: how exactly are we going to pay for this shindig? Yikes. May need two years to save the pennies.
- We’ll be getting married in Michigan.
- The theme, tentatively, is vintage/rustic/rock & roll. I want to do my best to incorporate elements that Thom loves because contrary to popular belief, this day isn’t all about me and I want him to look forward to it just as much as I do.
- Elements that are of SUPER importance to me: Photographs. A live band. Great food. Not to mention: people. I don’t mind a smaller, close-knit group of people if all the other elements are top notch so a small{ish} wedding might be in order.
I’m SO looking forward to sharing my wedding thoughts here and hoping you’ll share your thoughts with me!

Okay so what is the plan? Seriously Rockabilly? Can you imagine an awesome embossed linen or brocade in ivory with a full swing skirt and fitted bodice? OMG It would ROCK!
But I digress. I got married in a red velvet evening gown that I made at a courthouse in Orlando, and went to the mall after wards. Good Times!

I saw a cute vintag-ey idea recently..they had an old typewriter at the entrance and instead of signing a 'guest book' their guests typed their names and a short message. It looked cool! have fun planning!

Lol. You probably don't want to hear my thoughts. Hubby and I got hitched in New Zealand and created a registry with experiences during our trip that people could pay for. We did a party when we got home.

So excited for you. I don't remember a whole bunch about my wedding – it's been almost 43 years, but I do remember my daughter's. We had 4 – I repeat four- months to plan and do. It worked perfectly. The only thing we didn't get to do was order her dress, but the one she chose looked beautiful on her. It can be done. As soon as you know the exact date, let me know so I can book my plane ticket and get my flower girl dress. Do I get to wear a hairbow or a a tiara?
I am going to post links to book giveaways on my blog so whenever you have yours, let me know.
