Are you as super excited about this year’s Perseid Meteor Shower as I am? Thom and I are celebrating with a moonlight picnic and some star gazing out on the lower deck. It’s times like these that I adore living out in the middle of nowhere-no city lights to compete with the sparkle of stars and no noisy neighbors to ruin the moments.
I asked Thom to create a melon-based drink for me to sip as the stars start to soar. Here’s what he came up with:
The Shooting Star
Ingredients:
4 medium slices of Golden Honeydew melon
2 tbsp powdered sugar
2 jiggers Tequila {or to taste}
4 oz. Ginger Ale
Method:
Prepare a glass by dipping the rim in corn syrup and then in powdered sugar, if desired.
In a blender {or with an immersion blender} whirl the melon. Add in powdered sugar and give another whirl. Add ginger ale and tequila. Blend to combine. Pour over ice and enjoy!

What a fabulous idea…oh my goodness, I just read that phrase 'moonlight picnic' and thought…yes!! I want to do that!! The drink looks yummmm….thanks for the inspiration!
