After our Saturday morning workshops we were turned loose on the grounds of the Ozark Folk Center. Let me say: the park is beautiful. Lush, green {in a drought, people!}, clean, and filled with super sweet park employees. They really do a fantastic job there and it’s the only place in Arkansas that has really reminded me of the state parks back home in Michigan. I wish I’d had more time to explore.
I spent all my free time at the Old Time Print Shop inside the Crafts Village. Learning print making and letterpress are on my bucket list. The shop is filled with lovely note cards, note pads, and bookmarks made by Troy.
{not exactly sure why I threw in the donkey pic? He does not reside at the Print Shop} |
His apprentice, Vicki, drives up to Mountain View and works at the Crafts Village every weekend. She was so encouraging about this hobby and we talked and talked about my new found love of thrifting/antiquing.
How fun would it be to make your own bookmarks? Gah. I need a press!
I didn’t get to spend time at any other shops but there were many others to choose from and you can even design your own workshops and “learn what you want, when you want:” quilting, pottery making, candle making, blacksmithing, and weaving, and so many more crafts.
I can’t wait to return with Thom to explore the Ozark Folk Center even further.
I have one more post about AWBU and I hope you’ll indulge me and join me back here tomorrow to finish up!
