There’s a stillness and peacefulness during the winter months here at the Cove that is comforting and freeing, even on gloomy blue-ish-gray days. As February comes to a close and the temperature warms, Spring feels not-so-far-away. The boat launch remains empty. The dock is lonely and inviting. It was a just a few months ago that I laid there at the end in the dark of the night while Thom fished off the shore just to the right. I was enjoying a late fall evening under the stars lamenting the end of my favorite season.
Today, I stood at the end awaiting the arrival of Spring knowing that, soon, the Cove would be full of boaters and fisherman and our early evening picnics will include onlookers. I love this little part of the lake and we have quickly come to think of it as our own little private park during the off season.
Even the Loons seemed a little put out when we arrived and ruined their quiet retreat into the Cove. It’s difficult to share such a lovely spot.

I love those days on the lake. We used to have a lake house growing up and I would go sit on the screened in porch and have hot cocoa and watch the animals welcome the sun every day.
To this day I watch the sunrise like it was a miracle I had never seen before.
