I’m not sure what it is about Pinterest, but it has inspired me to actually put together some crafts. Not to mention the new recipes I’ve tried since pinning them to my inspiration boards. One of my favorite boards is my “photo display.” This lovely pin whispered to me to finally use up that Lake Michigan beach sand I brought back to Arkansas the last time we traveled to {Michigan}.
Also, if you’re a friend of mine on Facebook, you’ll know of my recent obsession with trash & recycling. Almost every Monday night I post about how taking the recyclables down to the roadside makes me incredibly giddy. I know. I’m an odd girl.
I’d been saving glass jars to chalkboard paint {last weekend’s crafty obsession}. When I realized that the CB paint just wasn’t going to stick to the glass, I set almost all of them out with the recycling. And then, I found this pin. Luckily, I had a few jars stashed in the craft room. Perfect for photo display:
To make these you’ll need:
Your favorite pics {trimmed to the height of the the jar}
Old jars, cleaned and labels removed {I used a Starbucks Frappacino bottle, an old pickle jar, and a baby food jar}
And, that’s it!! How simple.
I dressed up the the bottoms {actually, it’s the top of the jar where the lid would screw on} with some natural twine….just hot glued and wound messily.
Some beads from a broken bracelet dressed up the neck of this bottle.
I set the whole display in Lake Michigan beach sand on a white serving tray and placed it on the night stand next to my bed. That’s my Mom there….sitting in dune grass at Meinert Park.
I’m loving looking at reminders of home and the lake and combing them with recycled, reused, and repurposed trash. Now, how fast can I go through a jar of bread ‘n butter pickles so I can add more photos??
