A goal without a plan is just a wish.
Antoine de Saint-Exupery
I used to make resolutions. And every December, as I reflected on the previous year, I’d wind up disappointed with myself for not sticking with whatever it was I was trying to “fix” that year. Most of the time it was my weight. I’d resolve to eat better, exercise more, lose weight, feel better about myself, and I’d live happily ever after. So, yeah, that hasn’t happened so much-as evidenced by the lack of pictures of me here on the ole’ blog.
Instead, I’ve found that following the lead of Ali Edwards’ One Little Word project is much more manageable and doable. It focuses so much more on making positive advances rather than working through miserable acts, thoughts, and so on.
After typing all that out…I’m laughing at myself because it’s not what this post started out as-I hadn’t planned on writing about my word for 2011, as I haven’t chosen it yet. I’m torn between two words: Plan & Faith but I’m not ready to tackle them yet….another topic for another day, methinks.
So…back to the regularly scheduled post:
I’m trying out the Photo-a-Day thing again. I failed miserably last year…didn’t even make it a month, I think. But this year is different. The quote above got me thinking about goals & plans. My goal was a photo a day…but I never had a plan to achieve a photo-a-day! I pretty much just flew by the seat of my pants…literally, since I always seemed to remember right as I was undressing for bed at the end of the day that I was supposed to have snapped a shot!
I will try again…this time with a little help. These sites provide daily or weekly prompts I may or may not use..depending on whether or not inspiration has struck.
This shot came to me in a dream…
So, what about you? Goals? Plans? Words? What is guiding you this year?
