hey…I’m here, I’m here. Hi Liz! Either I’m way more interesting than I imagined…or I have a stalker. Either way-Go Me!
I love October. It’s my favorite month. Both Dad and Scott have birthdays this month. It generally gets cooler in this month {not so much in Arky, methinks}. And…it has my most favorite of holidays. Yep. Columbus Day. I just love that little poem…In 1492, Columbus sailed the ocean blue.
And then, there’s Halloween. That’s pretty high up on the list of October’s attributes. Since I’ll be missing out on St. Mary’s annual Halloween Party…a tradition I helped begin {wwaaaaahhhh} and since I have no plans for the scary day, I’ve declared October the Month of the Pumpkin. The fact that I’ve been craving pumpkin lately makes the declaration appropriate. It all started with that darned Starbucks PSL. Yes. The very PSL that spawned it’s very own blog post. Seems some thought my waxing poetic about Pumpkin Spice Lattes was kind of crazy.
So it’s going to be all Pumpkin, all the time around here. Or at least, until it starts to affect bodily functions {ahem}. {and Thom threw in that if it’s going to be Month of the Pumpkin around here that I’ll be shaped like a pumpkin…hhmm…Me? Am I to take that to mean he won’t be eating any of these baked goods? hmmm? does it?}
Anyway. To kick it off…Pumpkin Whoopie Pies, as seen on one of my most favorite food blogs: Culinary Concoctions by Peabody. These are awesome little pies. With a fun little name. Whoopie. How fun to bounce around the house yelling Whoooopiiieeee! Whoopie. whoopie! Whoopie? Okay, maybe not so fun for some. But be careful. If your BF, SO, or DH is anything like mine, it may start to sound like an invitation.
These little pies are good…not as good as Killer Pumpkin Bars…but still quite tasty.
I’m spreading the Halloween/Pumpkin goodness around my office at work as well. Bought this little guy at the Target Dollar Spot last week along with some treats to go inside. I know what you’re thinking. I eat way to much. And don’t I have a pretty formal dress I’m supposed to be fitting into later this month? Well…{pppshawww} I thought maybe I’d try to grow into it instead of having it altered. So there. It’s economical and time-saving.
I’ve been doing other stuff around here as well. Like working on Heather’s wedding programs, table numbers, and favor labels. So, I’m working off those calories. At least my fingers and wrists will be thin 🙂
Feel feel to join in all the pumpkin goodness….and let me know how you partake. Now. Where’d I put that spoon of maple cream cheese frosting?

I have been noticing that there are more birthdays in October than other months could it be that when its so cold end of Dec to January people are finding a fun way to stay warm?? HMMMMMM or could it be the pumpkin Whoopie sounding more like an invitation??????
Liz
P.S. Please share the pumpkin bar recipe.
