Beans, beans the magical fruit….
No, No! that’s not exactly why my nickname is Bean, although it probably is highly apropos these days {curse that wretched aging process}. No….I think it was Teri Young who gave me the nickname back in tenth grade. She used to “name game” me all the time in gym class. Gina beana bo beana, banana fana fo feana, me, mi, mo, meana, Gina! Yea…so “bean” stuck. These days Heather, Melly, and my brother Scott still call me “bean”…as does Melly’s mom. It’s certainly better than my six grade nickname: Buffy. Who picked that name, I wonder? Probably, I did, wanting something sunny and cute. Something that would convey prettiness, and popularity, maybe? Whatever the case, I’m surely glad it didn’t stick.
For a while Heather and I nicknamed her “Pork” so that we could be Pork and Bean…but I don’t think I actually called her Pork too often in daily conversation. I mean, really. Who wants to be the other white meat? lol.
These days, it’s just gina. Or babydoll. Or sweetheart. And sometimes Lomyl. I’ll send a nice little snail-mail gift to the first person to comment on what that means 🙂 And don’t forget to leave your nicknames in the comment section!
