I’ve always wondered about the moment my Prince Charming would go down on bended knee, take my left hand, and ask for my hand in marriage. I imagined him declaring his love and undying devotion to me, promising to take care of me forever, and rising to take me into his arms and kiss me passionately as I said yes, YES! I’ll marry you!
How naive those daydreams seem compared to the actual event.
{sigh} I’m not complaining! Just to be asked is lovely. And exciting. Thrilling, really. A dream come true.
Here’s the 411:
It was Monday night…I’d worked all day…exhausted from a 10 hour day and a 2 hour drive. I wearily walked into the house and right into Thom’s arms. He was waiting for me to get home. Neither of us felt like cooking so we decided to make a run for the border {yes…taco bell again}. We ordered and took a seat in a corner. After a few minutes Thom asked me to run back up to the counter to get some more hot sauce. Have I ever mentioned how much hot sauce this guy uses on 2 bean and cheese burritos? Copious amounts. So many, in fact, that the girls at the Taco Bell counter give him weird looks as they hand over fistfuls of sauce and say they have to consult with the manager because, clearly, he’s requesting more than the per-customer ratio of hot sauce.
So….I wasn’t surprised that he was sending me back for more. But…the surprise waiting for me when I returned was unexpected, to say the least:
Honestly, I thought he was joking. So I said yes…and we went on eating…speaking no more about the proposal. Later that night as we snuggled into bed in our usual positions, me on my right side and Thom spooning behind, I was drifting off and Thom says…”so…do you wanna go to Vegas or just go to the Heber Court House?” Huh? Turns out he was serious. I had to turn on the bedside lamp and get it straight. He was serious!
So…not the proposal of my dreams…but at least I have the perfect Prince Charming!

April Fools joke, or not, when it does happen, Jack wants to be a ring bearer.
Okay I have gotten that sauce packet before too, and when my daughter used it on a taco, after I had saved it I was so mad!
Anyway, I use as much as 5 sauce packets on ONE taco, so I will not look at him strangely.
