I actually had a 2 day weekend this last Saturday and Sunday and Thom surprised me with a weekend getaway to Branson, Missouri. I didn’t even know where we were going until we actually turned onto Main St. in Branson. Saturday night we had dinner out and toured the main strip…and on Sunday I toured the Titanic Museum. It was so awesome…full of artifacts donated from survivors and many, many incredible stories of survivors and of those who perished.
I had my first experience driving down some seriously winding, curvy, mountainous roads on the way home. And in the dark no less. Yikes. I was pretty much white-knuckling it, although I was trying to act so cool. Have I mentioned that the aforementioned winding, curvy, mountainous roads often do not have any guard rails? And that the only thing between me and a couple-of-hundred-feet-drop off of a mountain cliff is a single white guide line at the edge of the road? Yea. And it was windy too. And it threatened to rain a couple of times. All conditions I love to drive in 🙂 There was this one point- I was driving around the mountain (if the song “She’ll be comin‘ around the mountain” is playing in your head right now…well, good..that was my intention!) anyway…I drove around this curve and there was this little leaf tornado whirling at the side of the road and it totally scared me for a moment.
Driving with the silhouette of the Ozark Mountains etched beneath a blackened sky full of bright stars was an amazing sight though. I mean…what I saw when I was actually able to take my eyes off the tail lights of the big rig in front of me. I was so nervous about driving that I wouldn’t pass the slow-going semi. Anyway…enough of that 🙂
Liz asked about the {fabulous} weather here. Compared to freezing rain and ice…the weather here has been pretty great. Most days I just wear a sweater and call it a day. No jacket needed mostly. On Sunday it was 70 degrees when I went into the museum but by the time I came out, it was 45! Brrrr. It’s been in the low to mid 60s during the day and down to the high 20s at night.
So…it’s late..and I have to work again tomorrow. {Sigh} why oh why must I do it every single stinkin‘ day {I keep asking in my most whiniest voice}
And just a friendly, sweet reminder….my birthday is just 14 shopping days away….and as always I am up for celebrating {Birthday Week}…why cram the celebration of my birth into just one day?
Big hugs to all (:
