I guess there’s a new “No Cameras Allowed” policy at card night. Must have been decided on a night I wasn’t there. I have to say, I was kind of disappointed. I love taking photos. I love taking photos of people I love. I’d bet there’d be a lot less photo taking if those few elusive people just let me take a decent picture of them. You know who you are – the one that hides her face every time…and the one who flips me off every time I point and try to shoot. I mean, really, is that image you want preserved for the future?
And that’s all I’m really trying to do; preserve the everyday images I’m sure to forget. In fifty years when I’m old and senile…and trying to remember what my life was like, I’ll have these images to refer back to. I’ll have images of my family and friends. I’ll have the silly photos of jellybeans and Easter Eggs, of pieces of furniture and everyday items that surely will be sold, or broken and thrown or given away, or even lost. I’ll have documented my life in pictures.
So, while I’ll honor their wishes and not take their pictures at card night, I will continue taking pictures every day. I’ll continue sharing them with whomever wishes to see them. And if you’re up to the challenge, join Flickr and share your everyday moments. Archiving Everyday is a Flickr pool I’ve started for family members. Preserve everyday memories and share them with me…I’d love to see your days in pictures. It’s free…and it could be a lot of fun. Details: join Flickr and sign in. Add me (Ginababe74) as a contact, and I’ll invite you to the Archiving Everyday pool. So, jump on in..the water’s warm..See you in the pool!
