Coming up with a non-mushy, non-red, white, pink Valentine can be a daunting task this time of year when craft and grocery store aisles are full of red, white, and pink frilliness. I’m always on the lookout for neutral, non-traditional vessels in which to gift my Valentine. Like, this kraft-y paper heart box from the Target Dollar Spot (I think it’s called something else now?). It’s the perfect non-pink, non-red, non-frilly carrier for my Espresso Bean Valentine.
This sweet Valentine couldn’t be any easier but the sentiment is unforgettable.
Espresso Bean Valentine
The Espresso Bean Valentine is so easy to put together. The container is just a cardboard heart box I picked up at the Target Dollar Spot, but I also stopped by my two favorite craft stores (Hobby Lobby, Michaels) to ensure they could be found there, too. They can.
My Valentine loves chocolate covered espresso beans so the filling was a no-brainer for me. On my way into town to pick up groceries I stopped at my favorite spice store on top of the mountain, Ozark Country Market. They sell spices and candies in bulk. You can also order online. There are endless options to choose from and you can check the bulk supply section of your local grocer for ideas as well; chocolate covered raisins, yogurt covered nuts, or even tiny gummy candies are perfect, if it suits your Valentine!
Continuing in my non-frilly process, I’m just adding the lid and setting the Espresso Bean Valentine, along with a sweet card, on the bedside table for my Valentine to find when he wakes up since I’ll be at work all day.
I love simple Valentines with no pressure, no frills, no hassle.
